Kate Bush (Catherine Bush) was born on 30 July 1958 is an English singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Her eclectic musical style and idiosyncratic vocal style have made her one of the United Kingdom's most successful solo female performers of the past 30 years. Bush was signed by EMI at the age of 16 after being recommended by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. In 1978, at age 19, she topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks with her debut single "Wuthering Heights", becoming the first woman to have a UK number-one with a self-written song. She was also the most photographed woman in the United Kingdom that year.
Bush was born in Bexleyheath, Kent, to English physician Robert Bush and his Irish wife, Hannah Daly. She was raised in their farmhouse in East Wickham, Kent, with her older brothers, John and Paddy. Bush came from an artistic background: her mother was a former Irish folk dancer, her father was an accomplished pianist, Paddy worked as a musical-instrument maker and John was a poet and photographer. Both brothers were involved in the local folk music scene. John was a karateka at Goldsmiths College karate club and Bush also trained there, becoming known as "Ee-ee" because of her squeaky kiai. One of the instructors, Dave Hazard, later noted in his autobiography that her dance moves seemed to owe something to karate. Her family's musical influence inspired the young Kate to teach herself to play the piano at age 11. She also played the organ in a barn behind her parents' house and studied the violin.[1] She soon began writing her own tunes and eventually added lyrics to them.
The Whole Story is a compilation album by the British singer Kate Bush. It was her sixth album release overall, and was her first and only greatest hits collection. The album peaked at No.1 on the UK album chart and is, to date, her biggest selling album, being certified 4x Platinum in the UK and has sold 6 milion copies worldwide.
The album included a previously unreleased track entitled "Experiment IV" which was released as a single and made the UK Top 30, as well as a new version of Bush's first hit, "Wuthering Heights", featuring newly-recorded vocals.
A home video compilation also called The Whole Story was released at the same time. It includes the videos for the songs on the album (in the same order), plus the video for "The Big Sky", a song from Hounds of Love which is not included on the compilation album. The video for "Wow" on this release features excerpts from Bush's 1979 live tour, as the singer was no longer fond of the original promotional video[citation needed]. The video for "Experiment IV" has cameos by Dawn French, Hugh Laurie and Peter Vaughan.

"This Woman's Work" is a song written and performed by the British singer Kate Bush. It was originally featured on the soundtrack of the American film She's Having a Baby (1988).
The Red Shoes is the seventh studio album by the British musician Kate Bush. Released in November 1993, it was accompanied by Bush's short film, The Line, the Cross and the Curve, and was her last album before taking a 12-year hiatus. The album peaked at no.2 in the UK album chart and has been certified Platinum by the BPI for over 300,000 copies sold. In the US, the album reached #28, her highest chart position there to date. The album has sold around 2 million copies worldwide.
"Rubberband Girl" was released on 6 September 1993 and peaked at number 12 in the UK Singles Chart. Bush encourages us to be more flexible and resilient in this song, in short, to "go with the flow".
The Whole Story
Bonus
The Whole Story covers all of Kate bush's most memorable songs from the 1970s and early 1980s although it is by no means the whole story of her career. It opens with the re-recorded version of her spooky and atmospheric 1978 hit Wuthering Heights. This version has greater depth than the original single and still remains a most remarkable song based as it is on the novel of the same name. Bush is a unique singer-songwriter with a gift for striking romantic imagery, although her work is not always immediately accessible. The Man With The Child In His Eyes is a complex and moving ballad, whilst Wowmore… is a powerful atmospheric pop song. Her music can be quite idiosyncratic and full of oneiric imagery, like Breathing and The Dreaming. On the other hand, Babooshka is a buoyant pop song with a catchy tune. This compilation is charming and very enjoyable. Overall, Kate's music can be described as a form of art rock, not always appealing on first listen, but very rewarding if you persist.
